The 2022/2023 club committee is made up of the following members. A description for each position is available under the role.

President:  
The Club President supports the Chairperson in championing the code of conduct. The President is responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the Annual General Meeting (AGM). The President acts as a figurehead with a view of taking the club into the future whilst preserving the past by ensuring that the club Vision, Mission and Values are upheld and achieved. 

Chairperson: Kaye Ryan
The Club Chairperson plays a strategic role in creating, maintaining and championing the Club’s vision, mission, values and code of conduct. The Chairperson ensures that the TBSLSC Committee functions properly, that there is full participation at meetings, all relevant matters are discussed and that effective decisions are made and carried out. The Chairperson will oversee the complaints process. The Chairperson provides the connection to SLSNZ and emerging issues. The Club Chairperson is a member of the Club Executive. 

Secretary: Deborah Donkin
The Club Secretary supports the Chairperson in championing the code of conduct and ensuring the smooth functioning of the TBSLSC Committee. The Secretary acts as an information and reference point for the Chairperson and other committee members: clarifying past practice and decisions; confirming legal requirements and retrieving relevant documentation. The Club Secretary is a member of the Club Executive.

Treasurer: Jodie Hickey-Smith
The Club Treasurer supports the Chairperson in championing the code of conduct. The Treasurer is responsible for ensuring that effective financial systems and procedures have been established, are being consistently followed and are in line with best practice and legal requirements. The Club Treasurer is a member of the Club Executive.

Club Captain: Kirk McPherson
The Club Captain supports the Chairperson in championing the code of conduct. The Club Captain represents the views of lifeguards, athletes, volunteers and members within the club by being a central point of contact for them and a vital link into the TBSLC Committee. The Club Captain will contribute to the development of the club by providing thoughts and comments from a member perspective. The Club Captain also has the responsibility for maintaining a healthy, safe and functional club environment. The Club Captain is a member of the Club Executive.

Boat Captain: Tim Marsden
The Boat Captain supports the Chairperson in championing the code of conduct. The Boat Captain is responsible for the delivery of the Club’s annual surf boat programme and for the maintenance and upkeep of the surf boats. The Boat Captain creates and maintains pathways for high performing competitive athletes and provides pathways for participation of members in surf boat events. The Boat Captain provides surf boat rowers with the skills and opportunities to be involved, have fun and learn skills to become high performing athletes. 

Lifesaving Coordinator: Tayne McMahon
The Lifesaving Coordinator supports the Chairperson in championing the code of conduct. The Lifesaving Coordinator is responsible for the formation and delivery of the Club’s Standard Operating Procedures (CSOP’s) for the current season. This role engages with a variety of people to retain, engage, recruit and support volunteers to deliver the key lifesaving activities and services available on Titahi Bay Beach. The Lifesaving Coordinator may oversee multiple sub-roles within the Lifesaving space, including the delivery of training, power craft operations and pathways planning and management. This role acts in accordance with the Club’s mission and values, but ultimately strives to achieve the Surf Life Saving NZ vision: “no-one drowns on our beaches”.

Craft Coordinator: Andy Marshall
The Craft Coordinator supports the Chairperson in championing the code of conduct. The Craft Coordinator is responsible for the delivery of the Club’s annual Senior Craft programme for Under 15/17/19, Open and Masters-aged athletes. Responsible to ensure the athletes equipment is appropriate and is well maintained. Liaise with Club Administrators as and when required and support the Craft Coach. Promote and maintain healthy communication to all craft squad members about events, trainings, club news and or updates, and encourage healthy communication between members and committee. Encourage and promote Surf Life Saving as a sport and activity to be undertaken in a manner which upholds the principles of fair play.  

Junior Surf Coordinator: Joanna Lee
The Junior Surf Coordinator supports the Chairperson in championing the code of conduct. The Junior Surf Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that our Nippers’ programme enriches the lives of our young members by providing:

  • a fun, challenging, and safe aquatic learning environment that adopts a structured and engaging learning approach
  • an inclusive “Surf Family” philosophy
  • opportunities for Nippers to excel by encouraging the participation in local and national competitions,
  • opportunities for graduated Nippers to coach and mentor our junior members at the Nippers’ sessions.
  • Enthusiasm to continue to stay in surf and qualify as a surf lifeguard or patrol support and explore the surf pathways. 

The Junior Surf Coordinator will liaise with parents and children to develop a family based culture.
